Yes. Participants are expected to attend both full days to ensure a complete and meaningful experience.

What if I need help with transportation or accessibility?

We have options for you! Travel stipends for within Metro Vancouver, and accessibility supports are available to reduce barriers to participation. You can request these supports in your application.

Nope. Any person of any age can apply!

Will there be overnight accommodation?

No overnight stay is required.. The Camp runs during the day on both November 1st and 2nd, and participants return home each evening.

How do you work with Indigenous communities?

We engage Indigenous educators and partners through paid collaborations, co-designing workshops, and respecting community protocols. We follow principles of reciprocity, consent, and community-led knowledge sharing, guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action 93 and 94.

What is the Tanah Air Project?

Tanah Air Project is a newcomer-led initiative positioning belonging as a climate solution. We build newcomer and migrant leadership, advance immigrant inclusion in climate spaces, and create opportunities for Indigenous–newcomer learning.

Why does Tanah Air exist?

Newcomers often bring rich traditions of repair, stewardship, and resilience — but face systemic barriers that keep them out of climate decision-making. We exist to change that. Our work creates spaces where newcomers can build climate literacy, connect with Indigenous knowledge, and step into leadership with confidence.

What are your main program streams?

Education & Workshops: Solving by Belonging workshops and the Newcomer Climate Camp build climate literacy, leadership skills, and community networks.

Policy Innovation: We advocate for systemic change, including exploring a “Green Stream” immigration pathway that recognizes migrants’ climate contributions.

Storytelling & Art: We collect and share newcomer and migrant stories, creating resources like our Belonging Toolkit and non-fiction anthologies.
