Shakti Ramkumar is a climate and energy justice advocate and communications strategist, and a Founding Board Member at Tanah Air. She is currently the Senior Director of Policy and Communications at Student Energy, the world's largest youth-led organization working on energy. She directs the organization’s research and policy portfolio and has produced flagship research including the Global Youth Energy Outlook, the Youth Impact Framework, and the Energy Transition Skills Project, and leads the communication team that develops accessible energy education through the Energy System Map (with 17 million global users and counting!) Committed to an equitable energy transition, she co-creates programs that build energy systems knowledge and career pathways for early career professionals, including partnering with the SevenGen Indigenous Youth Energy Council to support Indigenous youth taking action for a clean energy future.

Shakti’s experience of immigrating to what is currently called Canada shapes her work on energy, food systems, and climate action. Guided by questions of what it means to seek roots on stolen land and how immigrant communities can contribute to Indigenous-led movements for a just future, she is honoured to support the work of Tanah Air, where she contributes to governance and the design of initiatives that engage newcomers in conversations about climate, identity, and equity.

Shakti regularly speaks about the crucial role of youth in just energy transitions in spaces including UN Climate Change Conferences (COP) 25-28, the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation forum, and recently as a featured speaker in Inbetween Stories, a docuseries exploring technologies and climate policy in the energy transition. She is a Corporate Knights 30 Under 30 Sustainability Leaders honouree, and her work with Student Energy recently received the 2025 Governor General's Innovation Award.
